Speech Therapy for
Long Covid
Speech therapy for post-viral brain injury
AKA “brain fog”
You (or your family member) might be struggling with Long Covid. One of the scariest aspects of Long Covid may be the “brain fog” that comes with it.
You may struggle with thinking, reading, writing, communicating, and understanding your energy levels.
You may be experiencing:
Cognitive fatigue and crashes when you can’t seem to do anything
Difficulty processing/understanding information as quickly as you are used to
Making simple mistakes
Some things that should be “easy” are hard and you can’t figure out why
Trouble focusing and making decisions
Difficulty with creativity
Trouble finding the right word
Difficulty getting started on tasks because they seem so daunting.
What do we work on in speech therapy for Long Covid?
Together, we work on:
Building your confidence in deciding which strategies can work for you.
Understanding your current strengths and challenges.
Foster your feeling of control and confidence.
Externalize your thought process.
Using visual organizers to organize your thoughts.
Using word-finding strategies.
Understanding your level of energy and how to communicate that to loved ones.
Knowing when and how to ask for help.
Learning how to pace yourself.
Executive functioning skills like prioritizing based on the energy you have, breaking goals into smaller parts, and using strategies to get started on something that seems daunting.
Any communication difficulties you may have like talking, listening, reading, and writing.
